New data from IndieWire now reveals that Bad Boys: Ride or Die was the top-performing VOD movie on iTunes on July 29, and on Fandango at Home for the week of July 22 – 28. The hit action sequel beats the likes of Civil War, Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga, and Horizon: An American Saga, among other titles. Audiences Loved The New Bad Boys Movie
Smith made headlines in 2022 when he took to the stage at that year's Oscars ceremony and slapped host Chris Rock over a joke made at his wife, Jada Pinkett Smith's, expense. The moment was shocking and Smith became, for a time, persona non grata in Hollywood. Slowly, however, burnt bridges were mended and Smith took on new projects and filmed existing ones, one of which was Bad Boys: Ride or Die.

Bad Boys: Ride or Die's box office gross of $395.3 million worldwide and its Rotten Tomatoes audience score of 97% have now confirmed, however, that most people outside of Hollywood don't much care about Smith's Oscars indiscretion. Made on a budget of $100 million, the film's box office performance cements Smith's movie star status and paints a promising picture for a prospective Bad Boys 5.
If Bad Boys: Ride or Die had tanked at the box office, things would've looked more worrying for Smith, but it seems that the actor will remain a box office draw for the foreseeable future. The sequel's success also bodes well for the upcoming I Am Legend 2, which Smith is set to star in alongside Michael B. Jordan. While 2022 was evidently a setback for Smith, Bad Boys: Ride or Die suggests that audiences are willing to let bygones be bygones.
